Train – Giving You the Skills to Manage Your New Equipment and Technology

Post-Installation & Additional Training

So now you have your optimal datacenter with all the latest technology – but how do you use it? While there are many reasons emerging technology can be an obstacle, the biggest hurdle of new equipment is acquiring the skills to manage it. The best planned and implemented datacenter will still require routine maintenance and management to keep it at peak performance. Our team of certified engineers can assist you in learning the specific skills that you’ll need to maintain your IT infrastructure. We can provide post-installation training to make sure that you have all the tools needed for new equipment maintenance if our engineers are assisting you with infrastructure implementation, or we can provide training for a more in-depth understanding of your existing data center infrastructure. Whether you are looking for additional training for servers and storage, network architecture, license management software, or your virtual infrastructure, Great Lakes Professional Service Organization can help.

Understanding New Hardware

Datacenter Training

All hardware is not alike - companies such as Dell, HP and IBM utilize different hardware and software features in order to install and manage their networking equipment. Adding new hardware brings another layer of complexity to your datacenter with required skills including the new server configuration, to remote management, to troubleshooting and repair. Once your implementation is complete, knowledge of your new data center equipment will allow you to maintain the current performance or to change the configuration as needed. In particular, the addition of a new storage solution can require further training to ensure you are able to maintain the proper performance of your new network equipment, to alter any configuration or to create a new storage volume.

Virtual Machine Management

Once your virtual environment is installed, management of the virtual machines by use of the system management console will often require additional training. The different types of software will have multiple applications designed for specific tasks. For instance, VMware uses an application called vCenter to manage virtual servers, virtual desktops, and Site Recovery Manager, while another application known as vSphere Converter allows you to convert physical servers to virtual equipment. Learning how to use the proper VMware applications will allow you to create new VM's, edit or add new virtual desktops, and create or recreate a server backup and disaster recovery solution.
