The HP StorageWorks MSL8096 tape library is a tape automation device that is ideal for the data storage needs of medium to large-sized businesses, as well as workgroups and remote offices due to its extensive web-based remote management capabilities. Typical applications of the MSL8096 tape library include unattended data backup, archival and disaster recovery if the worst should occur. Capable of storing an exceptionally large amount of data, the HP MSL8096 has a data storage capacity of 153.6 Terabytes (TB) when in an 8U form factor. Additionally, the MSL8096 offers flexibility with a choice of tape drives including Linear Tape-Open 3 (LTO-3), LTO-4 and LTO-5 Ultrium tape drives. Another choice available with the MSL8096 is between interface options, including Fibre Channel (FC), Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), as well as operating systems including popular HP systems as well as limited third party systems.
