The IBM StorWize V7000 Unified Storage is a disk storage system designed to meet the storage needs of enterprise-class businesses, while providing exceptional value by simultaneously controlling costs. Some of the advanced functionality that Unified Storage offers over traditional un-unified disk storage systems includes the advantage of single web-based user interface and the ability to combine both block and file storage requirements into a single disk storage system. The IBM V7000 also features a complete set of Storage Area Network (SAN) Volume Controller functions including FlashCopy, vDisk Mirroring, thin provisioning and more.

Configured in a space-efficient 2U rackmount form factor, the IBM StorWize V7000 features SAN-attached 8 Gigabits per second (Gbps) Fibre Channel (FC) host connectivity – the fastest host connectivity available on the market. The StorWize V7000 also offers SAN or Network Attached Storage (NAS) attached 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) and 10 GbE iSCSI host connectivity options to cater to user preference as well as the demands of existing infrastructures. The IBM V7000 Unified Storage system also offers a competitive edge by offering automatic migration to high-performance Solid State Drives (SSDs) for an up to 200% performance improvement.
Featuring Highly Modular and Scalable Storage Capacity
Supporting multiple disk drive types, the base IBM StorWize V7000 Unified Storage system can accommodate up to 24 Small Form Factor (SFF) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), Near-Line SAS (NL-SAS) or SSDs, or up to 12 Large Form Factor (LFF) SAS, NL-SAS or SSDs. As a result, the base IBM V7000 can hold up to 36 Terabytes (TB). However, up to 9 IBM StorWize V7000 expansion enclosures can be added to a V7000 control enclosure. This allows for a total disk drive capacity of up to 240 disk drives for up to 360TB of storage capacity. Another option for scaling the capacity of the V7000 is through a clustered system configuration, in which the disk storage capacity scales to 480 disk drives for up to 720TB of storage capacity.
