IBM TotalStorage EXP810 Storage Expansion Unit

The IBM TotalStorage Expansion 810 is the latest disk drive enclosure for the DS4000 series of disk storage products. As the latest in a line of storage expansion products for the IBM DS4000 family, the EXP810 offers many technological updates over previous generations. For instance, the IBM EXP810 features enhanced performance and storage capacity, as well as offering accommodations for both the 2 Gigabits per second (Gbps) Fibre Channel (FC) Enhanced Disk Drive Modules (E-DDMs), and 4 Gbps Fibre Channel E-DDMs and Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) E-DDMs. Equipped with 1TB SATA Drives, the EXP810 supports up to 16 Terabytes (TB) of physical capacity per expansion unit. The features of the IBM TotalStorage EXP810 make it ideal for mid-range datacenters looking to incorporate a high density 3U (19 inch) rack mountable storage enclosure into their enterprise IT environment.

As a storage expansion unit for the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 series, the EXP 810 features support for up to 16 disk drives that are able to accommodate 36, 72, 146, 300 or 450 Gigabyte (GB) FC drives or 500GB, 750GB or 1TB SATA drives. Additionally, the IBM EXP810 provides further advantages with support for redundant power and cooling modules, and Environmental Service Module (ESM) interfaces, as well as coming standard with up to two 4 Gbps shortwave Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) fiber optic transceivers for connection to select IBM storage expansion units in the midrange DS4000 disk system family. With its ability to migrate to the DS5000 series, the IBM TotalStorage EXP810 is ready and able to handle the current and future needs of small to medium-sized enterprise IT environments.
