The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 2000sa (MSA2000sa) G2 is a 3 Gigabit (Gb) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) storage array is ideally-suited for departmental environments and small to medium businesses (SMBs) that are looking to transition from a direct attach storage (DAS) solution to a centralized storage solution. Configured in a 2U rackmount chassis, the HP MSA2000sa G2 is an external shared storage array with a disk storage capacity ranging from 7.2 Terabytes (TB) to 120 TB depending on the disk drive type. When the MSA 2000sa is equipped with SAS disk drives its disk capacity ranges from 7.2TB to 36TB. When the MSA2000sa is equipped with Mid-Line SAS (MDL-SAS) drives its disk capacity ranges from 24TB to 120TB. When the MSA 2000sa is equipped with Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drives its disk capacity ranges from 24Tb to 120TB.

Able to mix and match disk drive types in the same enclosure, the HP MSA2000sa can be equipped with up to 12 Large Form Factor (LFF) SAS, MDL-SAS and SATA disk drives and up to 24 Small Form Factor (SFF) SAS, MDL-SAS and SATA disk drives. But with the help of a maximum of 4 LFF expansion enclosures, the MSA2000sa can be equipped up to 48 additional LFF disk drives. Or if they are MSA70 SFF enclosures, the HP MSA2000sa can be equipped with all the way up to 99 SFF disk drives. Beyond its disk drive capabilities, there are many other advantageous features of the HP StorageWorks Modular Storage Array 2000sa. Some of these other features include RAID support for levels including 0, 1, 3, 5, 6, 10 and 50, as well as support for 511 Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs) with LUN size up to 16TB, redundant power supplies and fans, and more.
