The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array (MSA) 2000i G2 is a 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Internet Small Computer System (iSCSI) Storage Area Network (SAN) solution. Configured in a space-efficient 2U rack-mountable form, the HP StorageWorks MSA2000i G2 is an affordable, yet high-performance storage solution ideal for both small companies and large companies depending on their requirements. The HP MSA2000i G2 array comes in a single controller and a dual controller model, each featuring two 1GbE ports and a 1 Gigabyte (GB) transportable cache per controller. The HP MSA 2000i G2 also comes with the capacity for both Large Form Factor (LFF) and Small Form Factor (SFF) disk drives, as well as the ability to mix and match these drive types within a single enclosure. MSA2000i G2 arrays can be equipped with up to 12 LFF dual-ported Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), Mid-line SAS (MDL-SAS) or Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) disk drives, or up to 24 SFF dual-ported SAS, MDL-SAS or SATA disk drives.

With the help of expansion enclosures, the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 2000i G2 can expand beyond their base disk storage capacities. When it comes to LFF disk drives, the HP MSA2000i G2 can be outfitted with up to 4 expansion enclosures for up to 60 LFF disk drives. And when it comes to SFF disk drives, the HP MSA 2000i G2 can support up to 3 expansion enclosures for up to 99 disk drives. And from there, the storage capacity of the HP MSA2000i G2 depends on whether SAS, MDL-SAS or SATA disk drives are used. With SAS drives, the MSA2000i G2 can offer a storage capacity ranging from 7.2 Terabytes (TB) to 89TB. However, with MDL-SAS or SATA disk drives, the MSA2000i G2 offers a storage capacity of 24TB to 99TB. The HP MSA2000i G2 array also offers support for up to 512 Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs) with a LUN size of up to 16TB.
