HP StorageWorks MSA 2000i

The HP StorageWorks 2000i Modular Smart Array (MSA2000i) is the Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) model of the MSA2000 family. The HP MSA2000 family also includes a Fibre Channel (FC) and a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) model. Specifically, the MSA 2000i is an iSCSI Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) 2U storage area network (SAN) solution that is designed to handle small to medium-sized deployments as well as remote locations. There are 2 models of the HP MSA2000i: a basic single controller model and an enhanced dual controller model.  Both models of the HP StorageWorks MSA2000i feature 12 drive bays designed for 3.5 in. Large Form Factor (LFF) enterprise-class Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives and archival-class Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drives. This allows for a disk storage capacity ranging from 5.4 Terabytes (TB) of SAS drives or 12TB of SATA drives to over 21.6TB of SAS drives or 48TB of SATA drives.

As a high-performance direct attached storage (DAS) array, the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 2000i features many advantages. One such advantage is the ability to mix and match SAS and SATA Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID) sets, as well as offering support for a broad array of RAID levels. Since the MSA 2000i features support for multiple RAID levels, it guarantees that the right level of performance and protection will be supplied. Other advantageous features of the MSA2000i include controller-based snapshots and clones, support for up to 16TB Logical Unit Numbers LUNs, redundant power supplies and fans, and 1 Gigabyte (GB) of transportable cache per controller. As a result, HP MSA2000i storage arrays are excellent options for direct attach environments, small clusters, workgroups, entry-level SAN environments, and more.
