The HP Modular Smart Array 2000fc (MSA is the Fibre Channel (FC) option of the HP Modular Smart Array 2000 storage family. Configured in a 2U direct attach storage (DAS) enclosure, the HP MSA2000fc array is ideal for customers that want HP storage but aren’t ready to delve into HP EVA arrays. Well-suited for small to medium businesses (SMBs), the HP MSA2000fc offers a disk storage capacity ranging from 14 Terabytes (TB)of  Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)drives to 36TB Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drives. Able to support up to 64 hosts, the HP MSA 2000fc gives the customer 3 models to choose from. The first is a basic single controller model, the second is a dual controller model, and the third is a dual enhanced controller model.

The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 2000fc comes standard with 12 drive bays that are able to accommodate 3.5 in. Large Form Factor (LFF) SAS drives and archival-class SATA drives. Also able to support a broad range of Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) levels, the MSA2000fc even offers support for RAID 6 - the highest level of RAID protection. Some of the advantages of RAID 6 for the MSA 2000fc include the ability to allocate 2 sets of parity data across drives and simultaneous write operations, as well as being able to withstand 2 simultaneous drive failures without downtime or data loss. Another RAID level that the HP MSA2000fc supports that offers many advantages is RAID 10. RAID 10 features mirroring and striping without parity, and is the most popular RAID level. Lastly, the HP MSA 2000fc also supports RAID 50, which combines the block striping and parity of RAID 5 with the straight block striping of RAID 0.
