HP StorageWorks MSA 1510i

The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1510i is an internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) based controller shelf. Configured in a space-efficient 2U form factor, HP StorageWorks MSA1510i controller shelves are able to connect to both SCSI and Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) disk storage enclosures. And not only can HP MSA1510i controller shelves can mix and match these SCSI and SATA disk enclosures behind a single controller. When the HP MSA1510i controller shelf is connected to just SCSI disk enclosures, it can scale to up to 4 enclosures for 16.8TB of storage capacity. When the HP MSA1510i controller shelf is connected to just SATA disk enclosures, it can scale to up to 8 enclosures for 64TB of storage capacity. When SCSI and SATA enclosures are mixed, the storage capacity of the HP MSA1510i array varies greatly.

As a high-capacity, yet cost-effective iSCSI-based controller shelf, the HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1510i is ideal for many enterprise IT environments. Able to support a maximum of 20 servers, the HP MSA1510i requires that each server be equipped with an iSCSI initiator. Additionally, for optimal performance, the HP StorageWorks MSA1510i controller shelf should only be connected to a 1000Base-T Network. Further performance capabilities of HP MSA1510i iSCSI controller shelves include support for up to 32 Logical Unit Numbers (LUNs), a 256 Megabyte (MB) cache that is upgradeable to a 512MB cache, and two 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) interfaces per controller. And last but not least, the HP MSA 1510i controller shelf offers support for RAID 6 with Advanced Data Guarding (ADG) capabilities, a direct-attached storage (DAS) to storage area network (SAN) (DtS) architecture, hot-pluggable expansion and replacement support, and more.
