HP StorageWorks P2000 G3

The HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 Modular Smart Arrays (MSAs) can either be configured as 2U Storage Area Network (SAN) arrays or direct connect solutions. HP P2000 G3 storage arrays offer many advantages, one of which is superior flexibility. This flexibility is showcased through the five different options of controllers that P2000 G3’s offer, which include two Fibre Channel (FC) options, 1 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) option, a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) option and a new option of a 4-port 1 Gigabit (Gb) iSCSI. Additionally, there are 2 chassis models of the HP StorageWorks P2000 G storage arrays. The two models differ in that one features support for up to 12 Large Form Factor (LFF) disk drives, while the other feature support for up to 24 Small Form Factor (SFF) disk drives. In fact, HP P2000 G3 arrays were specifically designed for customers who require the latest 8Gb FC technology, while providing the flexibility of two 1GbE iSCSI ports. 

The two model options of the HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 storage arrays options, both the LFF and SFF chassis form factors, can have redundant P2000 G3 FC or FC/iSCSI Combo controllers. Offering a new and improved 6 (Gigabytes) GB SAS back-end transmission speed, the LFF model of the HP P2000 G3 SAN offers a maximum storage capacity of up to 192 Terabytes (TB) with the addition of the maximum number of drive enclosures, while the SFF model offers a maximum storage capacity of up to 74.5 TB with the addition of the maximum number of drive enclosures.  Further upgrades in the functionality of HP P2000 G3 storage arrays include the addition of standard 64 snapshot capabilities, as well as the option of up to 512 snapshots. Remote snap operations are also supported on some models of HP P2000 G3 arrays.
