The HP LeftHand P4500 virtualized Storage Area Network (SAN) solution is ideal for data centers, remote offices and other enterprise-level IT environments. In order to fit the needs of these environments, the HP LeftHand P4500 virtualization SAN offers many advantages both in terms of hardware as well as software. Some of the major software advantages that the HP P4500 brings to the table include SAN/iQ Storage Clustering, SAN/iQ Network Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID), SAN/iQ Thin Provisioning, and SAN/iQ Snapshots. And the list doesn’t end there; other software advantages of HP LeftHand P4500 storage include SAN/iQ Remote copy for asynchronous replication, SAN/iQ Multi-Site/Disaster Recovery (DR) solution for synchronous replication, SAN/iQ Solution pack for Microsoft Windows and P4000 replication for remote offices including DR for up to 10 remote offices.

Beyond the numerous software advantages offered by the HP LeftHand P4500 SAN, there are many hardware advantages as well. For instance, the HP P4500 SAN comes equipped with dual redundant active-active storage controllers, as well as redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and a battery-backed cache for high availability and performance. The HP P4500 storage array also offers a wide range of options when it comes to hardware and performance capabilities. An example of this would be the number of disk drives that the P4500 can house, since the P4500 can be equipped with 24 450 Gigabyte (GB) 15K RPM Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) disk drives or it can be equipped with up to 48 of the same disk drives with 24 per site. This means that the storage capacity of the HP P4500 ranges from 10.8 Terabytes (TB) all the way up to 21.6TB. Other hardware advantages of the HP P4500 include support for multiple RAID levels including 5, 10 and 6, as well as up to 8 1Gbit Network Interface Cards (NICs) and up to 2,048 Megabyte (MB) cache.
