Sun Fire X4150 Servers
As part of Sun’s x86 server family, the Sun Fire X4150 offers many advantages for enterprise data centers looking for a high performance server in a space-efficient 1U, 2-socket form factor. While X4150 servers may seem small, they fit up to 2 dual or quad core Intel Xeon 5400 series processors, 16 Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) slots of Double Data Rate 2 (DDR2) memory, and either 6 or 8 disks within this compact form. The amount of disks varies in response to what type of disk they are, and the Sun X4150 servers offer the option of up to 6 Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) drives or up to 8 Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives. Not only space-efficient, but energy-efficient as well, Sun X4150 servers feature an optimized design in order to help data centers save on both unnecessary cooling and power usage, and thus reduce total operating expenses as well.
The Sun Fire X4150 rack server is able to run a wide range of environments for varied purposes, and is ideally suited for applications including web infrastructure, data-intensive applications, memory-intensive applications, database, storage-intensive applications, disk-intensive applications and more. Some additional features of X4150 servers that allow them to perform so well in intensive applications include 4 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet ports, up to 5 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 ports, 4 on-board Intel Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Network Interface Cards (NICs), one 10/100 Megabit (Mb) Ethernet NIC and much more. And not only are there many advantageous components, but X4150 servers are embedded with many beneficial technologies as well. These technologies include software such as Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM) as well as remote graphical access and a web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) over IPMI 2.0, HTTPS and SNMP v1, v2c and v3.
