Sun SPARC T2000 Servers
As entry-level servers, the Sun SPARC T2000 series offers high performance as well as exceptional scalability and reliability at an affordable price point. Designed with new technologies, the Sun T2000 server offers on-chip multi-threading (CMT), which allows for highly-threaded transactional processing – in fact, the T2000 can handle up to 32 active threads at the same time. Configured with an ULTRASPARC T1 processor, the Sun SPARC T2000 series can feature 4, 6 or 8 cores for optimal processing power. Furthermore, the ULTRASPARC T1 processors provide the SUN T2000 servers with exceptional throughput while reducing power consumption and heat dissipation as compared to conventional processors. Other new technologies introduced in T2000 servers in addition to their superior multi-threaded, multi-core processors include improved block copy, Sun 4v architecture, large page optimization and reduced Translation-Lookaside-Buffer (TLB) misses.
Sun SPARC T2000 servers offer many advantages not only when it comes to new technologies, but as a result of their design and possible configurations as well. For instance, Sun T2000 servers feature 16 Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) slots for the option of up to 64 Gigabytes (GB) of memory, as well as 4 auto-negotiating Ethernet ports for 10/100/1000 Megabits (Mb). Also featuring hot-pluggable Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives, T2000 servers feature a high level of redundancy, availability and eco-friendliness with 3 hot-pluggable, redundant system fans, 1 hot-pluggable, redundant blower unit, and 2 hot-swappable, redundant power supplies. Other features of the Sun SPARC T2000 servers include support for both PCI-Express (PCIe) and PCI-eXtended (PCI-X), with 3 PCI-e slots and 2 PCI-X slots available. Additionally, SPARC T2000 servers offer remote management capabilities and more through the integration of software such as Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT).
