IBM System p6 570 Servers

The IBM Power 570 mid-range server with POWER6 and available POWER6+ technology processor cards delivers outstanding price and performance, mainframe-level reliability, advanced availability (RAS) features, flexible capacity upgrades, and innovative virtualization to allow for management of growth, complexity, and risk. As with the p5 570, the POWER6 based architecture is constructed using 4U rack enclosures, also referred to as nodes, or CECs. Each node supports up to 4 POWER6 3.5, 4.2, or 4.7GHz dual-core processors, or POWER6+ 4.4, and 5.0GHz four-core processors. This node design allows up to four modules to be configured in a 19-inch rack as a single symmetric microprocessor (SMP) server, allowing for clients to start with what they need and grow as they go by adding additional CECs. A fully configured IBM p6 570 server may consist of up to 32 processor cores, 768 Gigabytes (GB) of DDR2 memory, 4 media bays, integrated ports for attaching communications devices, 24 mixed PCI-X and PCI Express adapter slots, and 24 internal SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) drives accommodating up to 10.8 Terabytes (TB) of internal disk storage in a maxed out 4 CEC enclosure configuration.

The modular and scalable IBM p6 570 system features 7 I/O slots per enclosure (equaling 28 total I/O slots per system) and both 1GB and 10GB Ethernet options. The Power 570 rack server also leverages your existing investments by supporting AIX, IBM i, and Linux for Power operating systems (OS), and x86 Linux applications on a single server. Other features introduced with new 9117-MMA server include an Integrated Virtual Ethernet adapter, Processor Instruction Retry feature which automatically monitors the POWER6 processor and, if needed, restarts the processor without interruption to the application, and a new HMC (Hardware Management Console) offering enhanced systems control.
