The HP ProLiant DL900 series of rack servers is ideal for enterprise computing environments, and consists entirely of the HP ProLiant DL980 Generation 7 (G7) server. Engineered with HP PREMA architecture, the DL980 G7 is capable of handling advanced mission critical applications with ease since it was designed to handle the largest x86 enterprise environments around. As an 8-socket, 8U form factor server, the HP DL980 G7 has the size and performance capabilities required for applications such as large data workloads, as well as the ability to handle consolidated or virtualized workloads in enterprise environments looking to enhance their resource utilization. With Smart CPU caching technology and a resilient system fabric, the DL900 series of HP ProLiant servers offers advantages such as improved throughput performance, balanced scaling, breakthrough efficiencies, reduced performance bottlenecks and unmatched reliability, resulting in performance capabilities beyond the capacity of previous server options for x86 enterprise environments.

The DL900 series comes standard with 4 Intel Xeon 7500 series or 6500 series processors, with the option of upgrading with 4 additional processors to a total of 8 processors for optimal performance. Each processor can be equipped with 4, 6 or even 8 processor cores, enabling the DL900 series to utilize up to 64 processor cores as high-density, power-efficient rack servers. The memory capacity of HP DL900 series servers has a maximum of 2 Terabytes (Tb) that is supported by 128 Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) slots. Additionally, the DL900 series has support for a maximum of 8 Small Form Factor (SFF) Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) hot plug drive bays as well as 8 hot plug redundant fans. When it comes to infrastructure management, the 900 series of Proliant DL servers offers the latest technology with HP Insight Control and Integrated Lights Out (ILO) Advanced (iLO 3) – allowing for the ultimate in precision and security for remote control management.
