The HP ProLiant DL500 series consists of high-performance rack servers and tower servers built for business critical application environments. Equipped with either Intel Xeon E7-4800 or 7500 series processors or AMD Opteron 6100 series processors, The DL500 series offers performance that matches your requirements with the option of 2 or 4 processors. The unique system architecture of the ProLiant DL500 series offers advantages such as high reliability, efficiency and serviceability with features including extensive I/O throughput and memory capacity as well as Remote Access Service (RAS) features. All of these features combined make the HP DL500 series capable of accelerated virtualization, supporting highly demanding x86 workloads and eliminating performance bottlenecks that hinder other servers. As a result, the DL500 series is well-suited for a multitude of applications including System Applications and Products (SAP), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), enterprise data bases and virtualization, while remaining a cost-effective server option.

The DL500 series features multiple generations of two HP ProLiant server models, DL580 and DL585, each of which offer their own performance advantages depending on the demands of the customer. The architecture of the DL500 series allows for numerous performance-enhancing features to fit within a 4U rack height. For instance, an HP DL server within the DL500 series can offer 11 expansion slots, up to 12 processor cores, up to 2TB of maximum memory, and the ability to support Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS), Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) and Solid State Drive (SSD) hot and non-hot plug drives. Additional features include a maximum of 64 Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) slots, 8 Small Form Factor (SFF) SAS, SATA and SSD drive bays, and advanced infrastructure management tools such as Integrated Lights Out 3 (iLo 3), HP Insight Control and HP Thermal Logic. With these features and more, the DL500 series works well as the building block for a Converged Infrastructure, which allows for multiple technologies to be packaged into a single computing structure.
