The first of its kind, the HP ProLiant BL495c Generation 6 (G6) is a virtualization blade server, allowing it to function as a virtual machine (VM) host without any of the bottlenecks encountered with traditional VM hosts. As a result, the BL495c G6 is ideal for enterprise data center environments with crucial data warehousing and memory intensive or scale-out business applications. As a half-height HP blade server, the ProLiant BL495c G6 is a compact, yet powerful server solution with incomparable memory and I/O – providing up to 128 Gigabyte (GB) of maximum memory. Additionally, the BL495c G6 features up to 2 AMD Opteron 2400 series processors, each equipped with 6 cores instead of the industry standard 4 cores. Engineered with AMD Dual Dynamic Power Management (DDPM), the BL495c G6 server blade is able to offer reduced power consumption by maximizing the performance capabilities of its processors.

The HP ProLiant BL495c G6 utilizes the latest technologies, and its many features enable optimum performance as a VM host. Some of the many features the BL495c G6 offers include multiple storage options, deployment versatility, simplified configuration management, and the ability to support up to 2 mezzanine cards. The HP BL495c G6 also features infrastructure management tools including HP Insight Control, HP Insight Dynamics and Integrated Lights Out 2 (iLO 2) that allow for high-performance, precision remote management. With all of these features and more, the benefits of the BL495c G6 are numerable and include the ability to both scale and support more virtual machines, an up to 65% reduction of Storage Area Network (SAN) connection expenses (compared to traditional HP ProLiant rack servers), and maximized network throughput as a result of 2 embedded dual port Flex-10 ten Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports.
