As modular core switches, the HP ProCurve 8200zl series of switches features high performance, availability and scalability so that you can future-proof your datacenter. Offering unified core-to-edge adaptive network solutions, ProCurve 8200zl switches feature reduced design complexity as well as decreased total cost of ownership while providing system management, application integration, network security and support, wired and wireless integration and more. HP 8200zl switches are able to offer all of these impressive features, as well as providing network core, aggregation and high availability access layer deployment, as a result of the many high-performance components and technologies that their scalable, passive system design is configured with. Built on a high-speed, high-capacity architecture, 8200zl switches can be equipped with up to 288 wire-speed 10/100/100 Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled ports or up to 48 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports per system.

Additional features of the HP ProCurve 8200zl series of networking switches include Layer 2 switching capabilities such as Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) tagging and support and ProCurve switch meshing, as well as Layer 3 routing and services and Layer 4 connectivity. Furthermore, 8200zl switches feature redundant, hot-swappable cooling and redundant management, fabric and power, as well as selectable queue configurations and remote intelligent mirroring management capabilities. There are two main models within the HP 8200zl series that showcase these features and more, labeled as 8212zl switches, or J8715B, and 8206zl switches, or J9475A. Each of these models features an alternative version. For the 8206zl, there is the 8206-44G-PoE+/2XG-SFP+ v2 zl (J9638A) and for the 8212zl, there is the 8212-92G-POE+/2XG-SFP+ v2 zl (J9639A). The main difference between the 8206zl and the 8212zl is that the 8206zl features 8 open module slots, while the 8212zl features 12 open module slots for double the port capacity.
