Designed for the small work areas and open spaces often found in small businesses, the HP ProCurve 1810G series of switches consists of 2 models: the 1810G-8, or J9449A, and the 1810G-24, or J9450A. The most obvious difference between the two 1810G series switches is their port configurations - 1810G-8 switches feature an 8 port configuration, while 1810G-24 switches feature a 24 port configuration. However, there are other differences that aren’t so visually obvious. For instance, 1810G-8 switches are the only model within the HP 1810G switch series that offers the option of being powered directly by means of a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch.  Similarly, the 1810G-24 switches are the only model in the HP ProCurve 1810G series that features 2 dual personality ports, jumbo frame support and a large buffer capacity.

While there are several key differences between the 1810G-8 and 1810G-24 switches within the HP ProCurve 1810G switch series, there are also multiple unifying factors. For example, both of these switches are basic, smart managed, fixed-configuration, Gigabit (GB) Layer 2 switches. And so, as a series, HP 1810G switches offer a wide range of features and technologies including 10/100/1000 capabilities, flexible mounting options, energy savings mode, fan-less operation for reduced noise, a Kensington Lock, auto-denial of service for security purposes and much more. Just a few of the features summed up under the “much more” include loop protection software to ensure optimal HP 1810G switch performance, an improved web management interface and HTTPS support to ensure a secure management connection to the 1810G switch, as well as broadcast and storm control for protection against network slowdowns. As a result, HP ProCurve 1810G switches are an easily administered network switch for small businesses in any market in need of a switching solution.
